Topshop and Tobruck Ave
I had the chance to check out an event at the Topshop Canada flagship store last night. Topshop and Trobruck Ave (aka Kiara Shwartz, local blogger and bad-ass chick) partnered to showcase this seasons festival fashion picks. Here’s what went down:
DIY Flower Crowns
An entire table was covered with beautiful fresh flowers brought in by Celsia Florist to make DIY flower crowns. Forget any visual interpretation you have of flower crowns – these headpieces were delicate and stunning. My first job was working at a florist, and it brought back some nostalgic memories!
Braid Bar
What is festival style without a braid? The heat, dancing, and long shower lines make for some interesting hairstyles if not contained by this godsend. These stylists created braids that paired perfectly with the DIY flower crowns.
Mini Snacks?!
On top of serving amazing lemonade with kitschy straws, there were mini snacks (yes, MINI SNACKS)! These mini tacos were almost too adorable to eat. But, of course, I got over that and tried the mini mac ‘n’ cheese balls, mini grilled cheese and mini Vietnamese subs. Pint sized levels of extreme fun.
Hugo’s Churros
There’s not many things better out there than sugar-covered dough. The only thing that is better is a heart-shaped churro, which is exactly what was offered at Hugo’s Churros! These churros were fresh out of the oven and still warm.
The DJ’s that kept me dancing all night, especially with the Blondie track! This brother-sister duo, aptly named BRO/SIS, spun amazing tunes and made me extremely jealous of their tanning ability (I think I’m going to create a hashtag in their honour called #tannedandrelaxed). Check out their stuff here.
Miss Tobruck Ave! Kiara rocked her handmade flower crown with her faded tee. Who doesn’t love a good faded tee. She put on a great event and was as sweet as can be.
The clothes
These were my favourite picks from the curated festival collection. These studded mules are amazing. I talked to Topshop Personal Shopper, Eve, who said these were super comfortable as well. She’s worn them for full days at work and not had any issues. I want them in every colour! Fringe is basically a staple item in my wardrobe. I recently gave up my all-black biker style for a laid back bohemian vibe. I must say it feels much more “me” and more fun! Lucky for me, there’s tons of bohemian festival style clothing available right now! I spy fringe on that black bag, also want.
All-in-all it was a great event. I am now going to stock my fridge full of mini snacks, and my closet full of fringed festival goods. Thanks Topshop and Tobruck Ave! Keep it #tannedandrelaxed.
